For those of you who care about the PageRank number you see in the toolbar, it looks like there's a PR update going on.

I'm seeing page that normally were PR4 pages now show as PR5 pages, so there's definitely an update going on from what I can see.

As for what this means, it's not really that significant. Google has their own internal PageRank number that we cannot see, and most likely any actual ranking benefits because of the PR update have already been applied to the actual search engine rankings. (In other words, you're probably not going to see any major shift in your rankings.)

    Hmmmmmmmm.

Matt Cutts said, only like, ummm, 2 days ago, that "with Big Daddy going on at the moment any PageRank update will be later rather than sooner"...

    Interesting.

People have been sporadically reporting seeing different PageRank here and there over the last few weeks. Not sure whether it was specific to a particular datacentre or what...

It's definitely interesting. I randomly checked several sites and just about every one had different PR than they did yesterday or the day before. Most of the ones I checked had been "stuck" at PR4 for about a year and now they're showing as a PR5. Weird.

Also, we don't know whether Matt was referring to internal PR at Google or the public PR everyone sees in the toolbar. I also can report that others are seeing a change, as well, as Loren Baker at Search Engine Journal is reporting that the site is now a PR8.

Been seeing it the last couple days on one of my sites - nothing big, just a bump on a few pages...

Still isn't making a lick of difference in the SERP's though... wink

As I understad it, by the time that a new Pagerank value reaches your toolbar, Google has already been using that value in their internal calculations for several weeks to months.

Several weeks? From my experience, it's about 2-3 weeks generally.

Google would have you believe that "several months" is the true figure.

Nice of you to post your real-word experience of what you find: I rarely look at PR and certainly do not spend any time chasing it.

I dont see any update on my sites. Many pages 3+ months old with good traffic still at PR0.

I've also been noticeing a page rank change. Some of my PR0 pages changed to PR4, but it keeps changing between 0 and 4, why is that?

Also, my main page only have a RP of 3, how can some of my subpages have a higher rank then my main page, when they have no incoming links, and my main page have 2000+ incoming links reported by Yahoo?

I've noticed sites with no PR having 0, then 4, and another that had page rank 0 all through his site now has a index of 2 and a interior page with 4 which I thought was quite groovey wink
