I think promote your site using article is the optimal way.
It is costless but high performance, because your article will spread world wide beyond your control...
However, link exchange is good one but becareful with link farm method. Google don't love this method anymore...
Good luck

Focus on creating useful content that users want - get links in relevant directories, go back and make more useful content for the users and keep it posted on your website.
With happy users and solid, unique content, come relevant links - which helps boost SERP placements.
Stir. Repeat.
This will work, but takes time to see results.

If you want to promote your site without link exchange, then just focus on content. Add fresh & informative content in your site. This helps in promoting your site. Because your content is updated regularly, so users find your site informative & they become loyal towards your site.

another way to get more visitors is to add your site to different top list site like ((URL REMOVED))

Make sure you submit to a few related directories, and try to get listed with several "leading" related websites.

Typically, once you have an article written it's best to publish the article on your own site; and then submit it to the article directories--there are literally thousands of article sites out there that will accept your article.
To find those article sites, you just have to search for them. The best way to do that is to search for something like this:
"submit article" keyword
(replace the word keyword with your topic or keyword phrase).

Articles have done a great job for me. Indexed by Google in 3 days on one site. One of my older sites ranks #1 for one keyword and consistently top 20 for another---mostly articles, but also did some directory submissions on that one.
