I had a website up for 2 years and wondered why I never had any traffic. I know one reason was that I never tried to promote it. Anyhow, I am trying to get some website developer to help me improve the site. I have been recently (yesterday) exposed to the term SOE, alt tags, meta tags.
I am writing in forum with the hope that I'll get some valid suggestion on how to improve my site. I have read somewhat about SOE strategies, key words, siterankings, algorithms .. blah blah. But all I'm looking to do is work hard on the site content and try to make it user friendly and accessible.
Again, I would appreciate all suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

Jason, welcome to the forums. Don't mind G1, he just hasn't had a beer yet today...
First up, please edit your profile and include the URL for the website in there. We do not encourage folks to drop links in their posts, so updating the profile is the best option.
Next up, you have a couple of options - chat us up based on what YOU have heard, ask specific questions and read through the answers posted...
...or visit the Site Reviews section and follow the directions set out there. In the end you'll have a post which others will use as a guideline to your needs (SEO v. PayPerClick, for example). others will then offer you suggestions on things to change which may or may not help - depends on the posters level of knowledge.
Now, as G stated, you could just start reading, too. Cozy up to the "Search" function listed in the top nav bar and drop in those terms you've come across. This forum is about 2 days OLDER than dirt, so if it's related to search marketing, it's here somewhere.
Searching will get you LOTS of stuff to read, which can be overwhelming, but take heart - we all started exactly where you are right now.
Again, welcome to SEF - where the Internet learns Search Marketing.
Duane

Heh. I've had my beer now.
But yeah, my answer was the post-it note or bumber-sticker version of Duane's.
