On our site (In Profile) I notice we have a bizarre PageRank distribution. The "inner" pages climb as high as PR6 and PR5, whilst the Home Page has been consistently set at PR3. We also took a recent hit in the Google rankings from page two to page twenty plus for our key-phrases.
I'm not overly concerned about it, but am intently curious as to how the PageRank can be so unevenly spread, given that almost all the inbound links point to our homepage.
Any ideas as to what has brought this about?
I read in another post that the cause could be multiple homepages. However, I have a redirect as follows to counter this: (Replaced domain name with "domain"
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^domain.com [NC,OR]
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,9} /index.php [NC]
RewriteRule .* http://www.domain.com/ [R=301,L]
All of our internal links point to http://www.domain.com/ and nothing else.

Using that redirect code, the problem will eventually fix itself.
I can't think on anything extra you can do to help it along.

Thanks. I think that's pretty much all I needed to hear; that I just need to wait for Google to catch up.
Thanks again.

One further thought -- You might like to try a <base href="http://www.domain.com"> tag on the root index page too.
