    Hey,
Just curious... was there a recent PR update?

My site PR has not changed, but I saw a few posts that seemed to indicate that their sites PR did change.

    Thanks!
    Corey

The toolbar PR changes 3 or 4 times per year, and is several weeks out of date when it does.

The internal PR figure used by Google changes every week or two it is believed.

Yes, I believe that Google has recently updated what we see in the Google Toobar. However, keep in mind that the internal PageRank that they have is a different number than what we see; and that internal number is updated on a regular basis, more often than what's displayed in the Google Toolbar.

Does it look to anyone else like they may have changed how they address internal pagerank (links within a site)...?

I'm seeing a few sites where the main domain is holding PR, but internal pages have slipped. Could be nothing, but could be something curious. smile

When mentioning internal PageRank I think bhartzer means the PageRank that the Google search engineers/scientists see, as opposed to tool bar PR.

Yes, yes, sorry. In context, my post was a little confusing.

I was talking about how PR is affected by internal linking within a site (index page links to sub-page, etc) rather than Google's internal (non published) PR data.

    Hope that clarifies.

I've seen internal pages lose PR whilst the home page stayed the same. Also seen home pages go to 0 whilst internal pages are OK - and mix and match of both scenarios. I think G needs a little tlc.

Personally I only refer to PR when researching potential clients and that is only as a crude indicator along with lots of other research.

Mostly I ignore it for my own sites - I'm only interested in how much traffic I get and how well it converts.

True true. It's just the dramatic changes that make me wonder if they reflect something deeper - a site with PR4 throughout for several years drops to 0 on all internal pages - that sort of thing. This one has me curious.

Okay, I guess I really only pay attention every three months when they change something. I think they do it just to distract me... wink

I best get back to work.
