    Hi,

I want my site to be found by more Dutch and German visitors. I've created a Dutch and German version of the homepage - and uploaded it.

How can I make sure Google will find them?

Would it be better if they were at .nl and .de domains? At the moment, they are simply on my .com domain.

    Thanks.

for both Dutch and German results, a .com would be better (.com is universal). Where your hosted will be important for this, which one would you value the most? Dutch or German traffic? whichever one host there as you will receive a bigger boost to your rankings in that country then.

To get results in the other Google will take time and then a bit more, however you should spread across the rest of the Google versions too (especially .com)

    Hi Trentham,

These versions of Google give a variety of results options,

There are results for German language, there are results from Germany and there are worldwide German results. (obviously the same for Dutch).

To get German language results your pages need to be in German.

To get results from Germany you need German hosting, and to get resutls from the worldwide I would suggest making sure you are competitive.

There seems to be exceptions to this rule but I think its because there are fewer results for many searches and Google supplements results, but to be as competitive as possible and leave less to chance I would use German hosting (1&1 Internet) with German language and a .com domain if a .de is difficult to get.

We got very good Google.de listings when we inadvertantly hosted in Germany but only in the German location database not the language.

    What do others think??

    Thanks for that.

The pages are in German. They are currently hosted with the rest of my site - in the UK.

So I should find a German hosting company? My URL is creme-de-languedoc .com - so should I also buy creme-de-languedoc .de and .nl?

I'd only be hosting 1 page. Which then links to my .com site. Would only 1 page do OK in the rankings? They're not very competitive terms I want to be found on.

Its unlikely that one page would do the job especially if it links or acts as a doorway to another website.

Why not do it properly and convert more of the website and upload the database to the new hosting, if you dont then you are not using the hosting that you pay for.

In addition there is limited value in getting German speaking people in through German pages and then directing them to English content????
