Need some help please..
- Is it ok if I get a domain name with 3 key words seperated by hyphens - www.word1-word2-word3.com OR its best to stay upto 2 words in domain ?
- Is google still sanboxing new names or this is no longer the case..? How long could it take for a new site to show up with good links ?
- I have a good optimised site and want to open an online
store. Is it ok if I link that new store from my site ?
Thanks in advance.

Only google can answer those directly, but here is my opinion
- I wouldn't. you can rank without many dashes, so why? from a user standpoint it looks spammy more importantly.
- yes, nothing has changed with new sites imo. but your understanding of sandbox may not be right. For example, if you launch a new site and it is a national story picked up by CNN, NY Times, Wash Post and a variety of other good quality sites you are not going to have an issue with what you term 'sandbox'.
- depends. for example is the only link to the new online store from your established site? Is the new online store related to the other site, outside of your desire for better rankings?

The new online store will sell products that i have on my current site but do not sell via web. After linking from my site on the same keyword, I would then get links from other sites too..

imo, makes sense for your users - so that begs the question why another site/domain?
my thoughts on the actual linking and what you are asking is that I would expect the links from the one site not to help and in the long run mean more effort needed in getting other 'sites too'.
Many links from your site to the new site is how it will be introduced to the search bots most likely. They understand that and filter out what they consider to be poor 'signals' of quality. Not saying your site is poor, just not a good 'signal' of quality for a new site. With time and establishing 'good' links to a new domain the search engines will rank appropriately. may be a long time and many links needed from 'good' signals to establish quality/ranking.
This is more so/specifically with google

well another domain for getting extra traffic//? but i think based on your post I may just stick with the existing
site by adding few pages for the store..

domains don't get extra traffic, and neither does trying to manipulate the search engines by using multiple domains. at least not in the long run.
An extra domain can be a valid approach, if you have exhausted your current (good luck!) marketing opportunities and have maximized that. Then an additional unique and separate domain with unique and good quality links established ... separately...
what you are proposing just doesn't make sense from a user standpoint. focus there. the search engines will reward you appropriately.
