My current ISP is giving a lot of headaches. I remember there was a time, if you move ISP your site and rankings used to get affected (sometimes for days - sometimes forever) . Is it still the case - especially with Google ?
Any advise on how to it . Thanks.

It never has been risky to change ISPs. As long as your site doesn't go down, then it's perfectly fine to change ISPs.

If you are keeping the same domain name then there are no problems.

Get the site online on the new server, then change the DNS to point to that new server.

Leave the old site up for a week to make sure that everyone has seen the switch.

Then say bye bye to the old hosts.

If you are changing the domain name then you are treated as if you have a brand new site, and that will take months to rank.

In that case, as soon as the new domain is online you need to install a site-wide 301 redirect from the old domain to the new domain and leave it in place for a year.

In that time you need to also get all your inbound links amended to point to the new domain name.

Thanks. No the domain will stay the same. Can't trade it - even for a million dollar wink
