I made up a new site and quickly got some great google listings and traffic. It lasted for about 1-3 days and then it all disappeared. What does this mean? Why did this happen? Does this mean my domain is blacklisted or something

It's just the way this goes - you're not blacklisted - it just takes time to get stable placements. Search on "sandbox" here for more info.

Hi ricklong - welcome to SEF
What you are seeing is perfectly normal. This "in for 3 days then gone" scenario is often referred to as being in the sandbox. It is a phenomena that affects new sites that have not earned any "authority".
I found an interesting piece on this yesterday and posted it here [link]
So don't worry, you're not in trouble.

The in and out rankings for new sites has been occuring for some time now. I wonder exactly why Google does this. Perhaps they rank the site to see how the searchers react and gauge the click percentage, etc to use for future rankings in the algo? Not basing this on anything, but doing that sounds sneaky, and perhaps, something they just may do.
