I have an article website and would like to know how many articles a day I can publish with Google and other search engines for indexing, finding and fully crawling the new content.

I once tried to publish 500 articles in one day but only about 20 of them got indexed and generated traffic.

The problem might have been that only the first 20 articles or so were 2nd generation links. The remaining 480 would be too far away in the hierarchal structure of the site and couldn't be indexed.

Would publishing one article per hour be a better bet?

    ((URL REMOVED per TOS))

As you can see the newest articles are listed on the index page witch would make it very easy to get indexed.

Would setting my Google sitemap settings to changing every hour and resubmiting it multiple times a day help?

    Cheers!

Forget about the search engines and just serve the content that you want the target market to recieve. By becoming focused on the user the search engine will look after themselves.

    Forget about the search engines

Very true. Add the content to your site. As long as it's not duplicate content (appears somewhere else on the web) then I wouldn't worry about it.

    only the first 20 articles

There are many factors that determine which pages get indexed first, but links to those pages and PageRank of those pages are two factors. Make sure you have links to those internal pages (there should be more than one way to get to the page).

If the site can get crawled properly then I wouldn't worry about the Google Sitemap.

A site that grows too quick gets filtered as spam, until it can be trusted.

A site that grows too many links too quickly sees those links have no positive effect on their ranking...

Like I said before, forget about the search engines and grow the content and links naturally... wink
