I know that you can lookup on Google which sites are linking to you in total (although they don't show all of them) with the "link:" command but I wanted to know if you can find out if there are any links coming from a specific site to your site - does anyone know how I could check this?
BTW - it doesn't have to be Google doing the checking - I just want to know if a certain site has ANY links to mine. Thanks.

Yes, you can do this. First, do not turn to Google when looking up links. Google doesn't tell you the accurate number of links that you have, so it's a waste of time to use Google.
What you'll want to do is use search using this phrase at Yahoo!:
linkdomain:yoursite.com -site:yoursite.com keywordphrase
This will show you all of the links from other sites linking to you (ignoring your site). Replace the phrase keywordphrase in the example above to use a word that you think appears on the other site.

Thanks bhartzer but I was trying to avoid having to sift through 1500 links to find a particular one - can I isolate a site using that command or a similar one?

Yes, you should be able to isolate the site if you know which site you're looking for. Rather than using a keyword you can use the domain name or a keyword that you know is on the site like the title tag in quotes or something.

Assuming that you want to use this to check whether a site is still exchanging links with you, I use 2 different methods:
1) See the links page in the website in my profile; some links have a "magnifying glass" symbol. Click on it and see how it is done (I use MSN search for it).
2) Another useful way of checking if your link partners are being faithful is to use an uptime monitoring service like host-tracker.com (this particular one is free) with a "GET" option (where the service looks for certain keywords on the monitored page). You would have to make sure that your link on the other site contains a very unique keyword, and program host-tracker to look for it. As soon as it sees that the keyword is no longer there, it emails you.
