I know that it takes several weeks or a month to first have your site crawled by Google (and presumably the other engines too). So let's say my site is in the index, then I go and do a bunch of SEO tweaks, and I want to see what the effect is. Is there a standard amount of time I would have to wait before I'm certain that the newest version has been crawled? Or is there a way I can expedite the process?
Thanks.

The way that Google works now, it can take months for some factors to take effect. Many are only a few weeks, but with different datacentres running with different data and different scoring it is very hard to reliably figure out cause and effect.

if you do a lot of different things, you should notice most of the change after the first full crawl - however if you're relying on links, google has to crawl them too
