    Hi!

    Sorry for the long post.

I am facing a unique problem from the past 8 months. My site is based on mobile phones which shows comparision of the phone deals available in UK. The site ranks quite well in Google SERPs and fetches good amount of traffic. Till April, the site used to rank for all the handset specific keywords (Nokia N95, Nokia N93 etc.) for 30 days of the month but used to vanish from Google SERPs from the generic ones like mobile phones, compare mobile phone deals etc. for 5-7 days every month. This used to bring down the traffic to about 60%. But in May, the site vanished from all the keywords leaving the traffic to just 20-30 from Google. And it came back after 15 days on 30th May.

Now again the site has vanished from Google from 29th June and is still not visible anywhere. Only the home page is visible for few keywords, that too after 300 or 400 position. I am very much puzzled and worried and would welcome any suggestion or ideas and explaination to solve the problem.

    Thanks in advance

    Elizabeth

hi - well im no expert at all like some of the other posters here but i can say that when searchingfor your site google gives this message:

In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the 1 already displayed.
If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included.

so maybe google thinks that many of your pages are too similar to be coming up in regular search results?

it also shows 163 links with the link: commpand and 692 with the site: command. i looked at most of those pages and didnt see any in the supplemental index. so maybe its just a duplicate content issue.

Have you checked any of the Google datacenters to see if they are ranking your page for those terms?

Also, quite a few of your backlinks (that I saw anyway) are general directories. When was your site submitted? Was it all at once? I'm not an "expert" either, but you'll notice general rumblings in the SEO community about how directories, by themselves, are not as effective as they used to be, and can actually be harmful, especially if there has been a mass-submission.

I didn't catalog all of your links, but you might try adding a few quality (non-directory) links to the list... specifically sites that are more closely related to mobile phones.
