What is a good number for average pageviews? We average 6 pages. Is that good? Really bad? I'm not sure. Thanks

Ther eis no one number that's comparable.

One of my sites avergaes about 100,000 page views a month, so compared to that, let's just say there's lots of room for your number to rise. wink

BUT, we have no idea of the vertical you are in.

If the site is selling "water treatment plants" (don't laugh, I have a friend whose company does this - low volume traffic, multi-million dollar sales), then 6 page views a month might be reasonable - I mean, how many people would be looking to buy a water treatment plant for their city at any given time. wink

The best way to judge this is against yourself. Check your stats for last month - is this month better or worse.

Year on year - Up or down?

That will tell you if your number of page views is good - establish your own average and go from there.

    *****************************************************

Now, if your question is about average page views PER VISITOR, then I'd say 6 is decent. My sites here at work have an overall average of 11 PV/Visitor. My personal sites average out to just over 5 PV/Person - this is highly dependent on the type of site, though.

If it's a blog, then I'd say that number is VERY good, given folks can usually read about 10 article son the main page of most blogs. If it's a news aggregator-type site, that might be a bit low - all that on-topic news in one place, and they only read six items?

Again, in this case, track against yourself - if you're up, it's good. if you're down, figure out why.

Thanks for your response - just to clarify, I was talking about average pageviews. Since we only started calculating August 20th, our page views from then have been 34,682. Average per visitor about 6.

It is also really hard to get conversations because we are B2B for $2000 3 day training courses. The people who come to our site and view courses aren't always the decision makers and there is usually a process involved on their part before they can register.

We signed up for Google Analtyics training because we need the help in understanding all of this. Our SEO efforts are working in that we are getting really good SERPs for our keywords. Now it's a matter of working on bounce rates and all that other good stuff I'm unsure of at this stage.

I think anything in the neighbor hood of 5 good. But that all depends on the site. What you need to be more concerned about is the trend in the number of page views per visitor.

It depends on the size of the site, and the purpose of the site.

A "dictionary" site probably sees 99% visitors at one page, 0.99% visitors at two pages, and 0.01% visitors at three or more, for example.

A major retailer, or a highly informational site, might see double figures for most people.
