    does anyone have a good idea about how this is going to work?

    The general assumption is that it may increase your relevance to terms inside the set geographical region? So does this not have a negative knock on effect on relevance to searches outside that geographical region?

    Well, I disabled mine. Got my domain many many years ago. Wish it had been com with all this geo targeting :
