This's not a good idea, only one of the sites will get credit for the content and not only that, one site might get credit for content/page A and the other gets credit for content/page B. In other words, you're splitting the poits you may get from Google.

If you make one of these sites your primary domain and use 301 redirect on the other one, then your primary site will get stronger over time.

Basically, what moo said. It's not a good idea. One site will be assigned a duplicate content penalty by the engines, and this will affect it's rankings.

Best to, as mentioned, keep the content on one domain, and redirect the second domain to the first.

For more info on 301 redirects, please see this thread.

I've heard mixed things about this. I have a microsite and I did a 301 permanent redirect out of fear that our rankings would be hurt, but then from other advice I had heard, I activitated it again and the rankings have been inconsistent. The initial site continues to do well, but the microsite will dominate on Google for about 2 weeks and then disappear from the rankings for the next 2 weeks (its a continuous cycle). I continue to remain ranked high on the both sites for Yahoo, MSN, and other search engines however.

Google can send much more traffic than MSN or Yahoo ranking being equal across the bunch.

That said, duplicate content is an issue and should be avoided - main site or micro site - duplicating content is not the way forward long term.

Worst case, the micro site gets credit for the content and the main site is removed from the index...not good.

I think Pythagoras (or maybe it was Hippocrates) answered that question a few thousand years ago by saying "In choosing between A and B, you can choose to run A and ruin B or run B and ruin A but you cannot choose not to ruin one of them".

I have read your comments and after that I decided to redirect A to B using 301 redirect.
But I want to tell you that i afraid of that, cause maybe one day I will wake up and decide to activate site A with defferent content.
So I hope google will re-index my site A if I did.
Best regards,
Ayman...

Make sure have taken care of www and non-www on both domains.

Google would reindex a site if the domain stopped being a redirect.
