Ok before anyone starts please do not slate us for using frames!
Now that's out of the way, I have a site that has been doing well in the SERP's for a long time now that uses frames, we have code in place etc to fix the orphan page problems and everything has been doing well, until recently. Google has started indexing all of our pages (well about 10% of them) using the same title tag when in fact all the actual pages have a unique title and description. I know it's a frames problem but if anyone can tell me a way round getting google to index these pages with the correct title then it would be much appreciated. There must be some way of making this work. The only thing I can think of that I changed that might have caused this, is putting in a base href tag but this was ages ago.

Thanks for your replies in advance.

I have recently helped convert a site that was using frames.

At the same time, all the font tags were ditched in favour of CSS, and each of the pages had a meta description added to each one. The HTML code was also tidied up so that each piece of content was inside a block-level element (either a heading, paragraph, list, table, or form).

With frames, the header, navigation, content, and footer, frames are loaded into the frameset. Those elements are not linked together in and of themselves.

With the new scheme, the content page loads and it uses "PHP includes" to include the header, navigation, and footer content within the content page.

The pages look almost identical to the old site. However, they now rank much higher than they did (partly as internal PageRank can now be passed around inside the site), and traffic has increased by about another quarter.
