Somehow, the text I placed in my META Description isn't being indexed by Google (but Yahoo picks it up just fine).
I tested this using both site:masterpiececommercial.com and info:masterpiececommercial.com and the first bit of text Google is using is all the way down in my <h1> section.
Even the ALT text I have for the image at the top of the page is being disregarded! So I'm wondering if I screwed something up in the <head> section?
It's just weird that Yahoo reads my META Description just fine.
Can someone please take a quick look at this for me? The website is www.masterpiececommercial.com

I've answered this elsewhere, but as this is a different audience, I hope you'll forgive the repetition:
1. Google tries to match the search results with the search term - I doubt you have your URL in the meta desc or in ALT text.
2. Don't sweat about webmaster searches - try searches that potential customers will use and see you get on with them. It's those that matter. Why would a customer search for your URL?

Run your page through validator.w3.org and make sure that there are no coding errors hindering things.

I have a similar problem with my page:
www.digitalknowledgebox.com
I added meta tag information to this page in order to have description, title, and keyword information displayed when a search is done in Google. But, when I search the site in Google, none of the correct info is displayed.
If anyone can check the source code of the page and provide any information it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
As a side note, if this meta tag info is done correctly, will it immediately be visible within a search engine, or does it have to be registered?

It can take several weeks for it to be found and indexed.
Run the pages through http://validator.w3.org/ to see what coding errors you have.

or, to put it simply and correctly (because i've actually read the question you asked, unlike some on here)
Google wont necessarily return your meta description in the search results.. it will return ANY part of your site that it feels matches the search term best.
Now, this could be your description, it could be a sample of text in a paragraph, or a cumulation of some words on your page. It could also be the description on dmoz.org, and yes, it could also be your description IF your description matches the term searched.
@Yahoo on the other hand DOES mostly return the meta description, even though the match may have been something else on the page.
