Hi,

I am considering re-directing traffic based on country of origin as oultined in the link below (Where I found info on how to do it):

[link]

Is this allowed with google, yahoo, and msn?

Is there a risk of a penalty. It seems ok to me but I don't want to take a chance.

Thanks.

If you use it as described - assuming it works - then the SEs will have no problem.

Using it the way he uses it, to pass people on to affiliates, may be risky - if people start ending up on the 'wrong site', and reporting a 'bad search' to the SEs, then there will be trouble.

But many sites use similar techniques to ensure people are at the RIGHT site, but also have the right currency cart, etc.

Like most techniques, if used appropriately, it should be fine - but used for spam purposes may get an equally appropriate response!

PS - I stress that I don't know if it works or not!
