I look after an Oscommerce site as a bit of a side project, it's kinda new and doesn't get a great deal of visits, but for a while now there's 150+ visitors online all the time all from the same IP, 66.249.65.74, which is Googlebot
Isn't 150+ Googlebots a little extreme to spider a local shop?

That's probably the way your stats work. Googlebot doesn't eat cookies, therefore each page view is registered as a new visitor. Your stats show "number of visitors in last 10 minutes" or something, but in reality the "150 visitors" is one visitor that has viewed 150 pages.

Ah, thanks G1, that does make a lot more sense than an army of Googlebots

Its actually the structure of OScommerce, and nothing to do with googlebot.
Theres a number of reasons why this happens. OSCommerce can and does trap bots in its structure which bounce around indefinitely until they get fed up. As G1 says this can cause repeated visitors, but it isnt the source of the problem.
Update your OS with the major contribs. Search the contribs for google bots, search engines, bots, googledance, robots.txt etc and you should find what you need.
