Hi Folks,
I had a website which is up about 2 years ago. Within few months I gathered some good links and even got a PR 3. About a year ago, I brought the site down. I have now again put up a new site but my PR is gone and site is not found in Google ?!!?!? I still have quite a few quality links pointing to my site. Will I regain my strenght again ? Can anyone pls advise. ? Thanks so much!

Just clarifying this to be sure I fully understand.
1. you put up a site 2 yrs ago and it had a PR of 3
2. then you took the site down
3. you put up a different site using the same domain as you had the PR 3 at?
If you have different content/ subject at the same domain name as you had with a PR of 3 then the links to you won't count as much.
Say your first site was xyz. com and it was all about boats, and this new site at xyz. com is all about horses, then the links back to your site is in all probability about bikes - right?
Also too just the fact that the site was "dead" as in no content could be reason alone for the loss of ranking and site being found in google. So even if the site you took down and this new site is all about the same subject, as I said it still reasons out for loss of PR and search.
Please let me know if I understand this situation correctly.

Thanks beth_lk. The site content is different but the subject is still the same. It was about boats then and it is about boats now.

I would have to say then that you lost your PR and SE ranking based on the fact of no updates and from what I understand from your post, no content in a year.
I would also check the sites that are linked back to you and see where they stand with the SE. At times other sites go "bad" or even dead and then those that had or do still link to you can also create this issue.
It looks like you are probably looking at a re start with PR and SE - sorry.
If you post your site in your profile, I can look at it and see if I see anything else that can help you get it back on track.

so when you say you took the site down, you really took it down? ie a 404 (dead site) on all pages? nothing existed at the domain?

I had almost the same problem, a friend recommended this website: Axandra.com/go.to/rami9400/4. My site- chaselimousine.com- was back to PR3 with good positions at google and msn in about 21/2 months. try it , it works.
