So many people now quote the 28th as the day Google will start its dance. But why? Is it something to do with a new dance schedule and the fact that they'll be updating every 14 days now instead of 28?

thanks, Roger.

Try to see the difference in ranking.
http://www3.google.com/search?q=gold&hl=en
#10 - gold-rush.org
http://www.google.com/search?q=gold&hl=en
#10 - goldbug.com

If you looked at the title and description then both are very very old. It's bad, very bad.

WWW3 are back and forth, http://216.239.39.101/search?hl=en&q=gold
is better, but it's no update, because the links haven't been re-counted from last update.

I've noticed the same type of slight shifting on www3 over the last 3-4 days. Doesn't seem wide spread (at all) so I don't think it resembles the dance.

kynduvme ... I'm thinking you got it

My question for you ... WHY? I understand the moon cycle stuff, but it really hasn't been following that cycle recently. Where did you come up with the 28th? Time will tell...

"28th as the day Google will start its dance. But why?"

Googlebot spidered most sites about a week later than usual this month.

Last month google spidered one of my sites on Feb 13th, and that site was included when the google dance started on Feb 20th. So google only needs 7 days to crunch the data and spit out a new index. My guess for the longer delay this month is new spam filters being tested.

Actually, maybe they will be moving to a 14 day 1/2 moon phase update cycle as of the 28th with this being the logic:

Each full moon phase is 28 days with March 28th being the full moon coming up. Maybe they will just update on the 14 day cycle of half-moon and full-moon. Just a theory obviously.

Hi...Okay just trying to get a few things straight, you guys really keep me excited. So anyways, when this count down started I noticed that my cached picture was new (my present front page) and for the first time I actually noticed a dated cache. Well that was three days ago, two days ago the same picture but a new date. Today I have no date and an old cached picture from before the last update. So since most can probably tell I no nothing about this stuff and learn by osmosis, what is the expalnation and why stick and old pages' picture in there.

See the fact of the matter is, I forgot to leave cookie and milk for Google on the last visit. Sorry for the trouble guys.

I like that #1 position for "Gold" too bad it has no content 'literally' but still ranks out of 19,000,000.

Google already has it set up where the most interesting sites get updated sooner than rest just have to create your own cnn network or yahoo to be apart of it.
