What am I looking for when Doing a site:www.domain.com search on Yahoo and see if the URLs are correct.

Also, what about sites I'm hosting on IIS at the moment. Will this be a problem in the future ?

Following on from my previous message, is Google the only search engine which you can have the problem with duplicate content with ?

Because our site (see profile) rankings good in Yahoo.com.

What you are looking for with the site:www.domain.com search is the syntax of the links pointing to your site.

Google is known to issue duplicate content penalties as a matter of course. Other search engines may, but it isn't a problem in the same way as it is with Google.

For our site on yahoo.com it would appear that some URLs are non-www and some are www. The actual format e.g .html etc is all lowercase on Yahoo

Also, what about sites I'm hosting on IIS at the moment. Will this be a problem in the future ?

Also for yahoo we don't get a great deal of traffic like we did on Google for similar keywords, even though we rank well on Yahoo. Last month we got about 1500 referals from Yahoo. Why could this be.

Any site that is already on IIS, or ever moves to IIS, is exposed to these problems.

How do I get around this problem on IIS. I have full access to the IIS server. Can you point me in the direction of any good websites on how I can achieve this ?

Thanks

You need ISAPI_rewrite or any similar product.

Can anyone recommend any products like ISAPI_rewrite ? Has anyone else experience duplicate content issues with Google because of IIS ?

IIS also creates duplicates owing to the fvact that it's not case sensitive. For instance, if you have a page on your site domain.com/nicepage.htm and somebody links to it domain.com/NicePage.htm IIS will serve the page rather than serve a 404 error page thus creating a duplicate.

The bad thing is that these links to your site are out of your control.

If I was to create sites like mydomain.com.au would Google see this as duplicate content if the content was the same as mydomain.com ?

Google also wouldn't be happy with the following things found on your site(s):

small text
similar colour to background text
duplicate content
cross linking between sites
h1 tags set to size 1
Comment spam

etc - but you've been told all of this before in other threads.
