How can I retain the values users enter into form fields when after they submit the form they have to hit the back button to correct an error?

Thanks!

Normally you don't need to do anything as most browsers will cache the page and the browser back button will simply fetch the page from the cache. But if you want to make sure that the form contents 'stay' create a temporary client side cookie and reload the contents from the cookie.

After submission it is better that you zap the cookie content as some information may be too sensitive to be left behind. It is better to be proactive in such matters.
