What is a good ecommerce package or shopping cart to use? I am using OSCommerce right now. It is ok, but for some reason I feel like it isn't built too 'solid' or with SEO in mind. Although, I must admit, we have tweaked it somewhat and it is placing ok. But all in all, I not very happy with it. I understand you get what you pay for (OSCommerce is free), so I am not complaining, I just would like to take a look at some alternatives.
I would like to hear some others' comments on OSCommerce as well as any suggestions for other similiar products. Also, is Yahoo Store a good solution? I have heard some complaints about the cost, but is it really that much? If it is easier to use and gets the job done quicker I would really consider it.
Here is a little bit of a background on what the site needs to offer:
The site is an extension of an actual business which sells 'things' (I assume that this forum, like others, doesn't allow you to specific criteria like for example exactly what items you sell, so I'll just say 'things' instead) to other businesses, office professionals, schools, the government and some other entities. The 'things' being sold on the site have alot of different options, configurations, and colors (each of these criteria have an effect on the total price), so the alternative to OSCommerce must have features to allow for this so that customers can use a drop down and or checkbox to pick and choose what features and such they desire. It would also have to be able to calculate shipping costs for Fedex and UPS.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
