    Hello,

I got an account with Godaddy but I just found out they don't allow shell
access. My programmer says that will be a problem. Very disapointing because I was very pleased with Godaddy so far. Especially their price and customer service.

Does anyone know a large, reputable, and cheap hosting service similar to Godaddy that allows shell access, linix, php, and mysql.

I have heard some good things about Assorted Internet. They have everything you will need and I believe they have image magick as well. Rackspace is hands down the best, but you're going to pay for it.

I'm sure there are some other members who can shed some light on other companies that they have had more direct experience with.

You can check to find out if they offer shell access (I'm not sure to be honest) but Hostgo.com has been pretty good.

    Hello,

I've never heard of "shell", but all the others you listed are used on my
server. Tell me what shell is?

Anyway, My host offers 500 MB of space, unlimitd autoresponders, unlimited
email accounts, HTML editor, FTP, free scripts, list builder, ezine builder,
META Tag maker, link popularity and keyword checker, subscription form
creator. Let's see what did I miss?! There is more, believe it or not...

After only 3 short months my hosting was paid for! Anyone you refer to them
that buys hosting, You earn /month! At .95/mo. I am now at a profit!
And all I did is recommend a hosting company when someone was asking, that I
believe in! They have me for Life, that's for sure!

Ask me, I'll let you know if they have it. All but Shell, LOL! You'll have
to check on that yourself. I don't know what it is! Sorry.

Go to [affiliate url deleted] OR check out more of what I have to
say about them at: [Please keep your url in your profile only.] Just look for My 2 cents, or
    Hosting for Affiliates.

    Hope this helps,

acardwell, shell access is Telnet/SSH(Secure Shell) access to a server. Basically you can use a client to login to your hosts server, get to the command prompt and do whatever it is you need to do. Due to security issues you wont find many people offering telnet access anymore, its mostly SSH and SSH2.
