Hey guys ,
I’m starting a business this year, but still have trouble coming up with a great domain name . I'm getting to the point where I'll have to come up with something soon. If you suggest a name for my business and I end up using it, I'll get you a gift certificate for $30 to an online store of your choice (i.e. Amazon).
Here are the details:
-The business is going to be a dating web portal for people with disabilities. In a nutshell the service would be similar to Match.com/LavaLife/eHarmony, but geared towards people w/ disabilities.
-Essentially the domain name should incorporate or invoke both the elements of dating/love/relationship and hope/community/successful life for people w/ disabilities.
-The domain name has to be available (this can be checked at www.netsol.com) In addition, there can't be another reasonably-sized business with the same name. I don't want any intellectual property issues.
-I might be OK with a totally-unrelated name (e.g. how Amazon and Yahoo named their businesses). However, I have no idea where to begin there, especially considering the subject matter of the service – dating for people w/ disabilities. If I did do an unrelated name it would have to be something easy to spell and a shorter word/domain name would be preferred.
-Another idea that I thought might be cool would be to use a Greek/Latin/Sanskrit word/phrase for something that would entail the necessary message for dating for people w/ disabilities. However, I don't have any clue as to what that would be or where to begin.
- Anyway, that's some basic information to get you started. If you have any further questions, feel free to let me know. If you have a name that you think might work, post it here. I'll let you know if I end up using it and you’ll also be able to check it through www.netsol.com. Thanks !

Hey!
I really like your focus on "ability" rather than "disability". However, I'm not really keen on the suggested domain names. The concept is great but I think the domain names need some more thinking. Please keep those suggestions coming. Thanks.

I am not sure if you know this - but the term "gimp" is a type of endearment amoung those with disabilities - yes it is slang but a term very well accepted and used very often by the "gimps" themselves
My brother in-law is paralyzed from his neck down and hence we know a lot of "gimps" - its kinda like limps - but stands for all types of physical disabilities...
just a thought....
gimpdating
datinggimps
This is NOT in any way intended to be considered rude - I spoke to my brother in law before posting this and he assured me this is NOT a type of swear word to wards people with physical disabilities.....
Not sure how well gimp would do in the SE's though lol

Guys,
Thanks for your suggestions, but the gimpdating will need to wait (I need to talk to more people to make sure that the word doesn't project any wrong image.) However, what I don't necessarily want the word dating to be as a part of my domain name. I want the domain name to reflect something bigger (life, hope, relationship) without restricting to dating. Something along the line of LavaLife, eHarmony. Obviously GimpLife and GimpHarmony are valid suggestions, but they would have to wait for some additional screening . Keep up the great work and keep your ideas coming. Thanks.

What a great idea!
I'm a creative person - in my "real life" I do balloon decor and event planning. I also have a step-son with a disablity.
But, this one will certainly take some thinking. I'll think about it for the day and see what I come up with in case you haven't already made a decision.

Hi,
I would be very wary of using the word "gimp". Even if it is acceptable in USA, I think it would be frowned upon in UK.
How about :
able2meet.com
able2date.com
able2love.com
able2hope.com
able2dream.com
enabletogether.com
all those are available.
Regards
Tog

Yes after more thought I agree that "gimp" may not be a favorable slang term for every one......and some may find it quite upsetting.......
ehope
hopelife
efullfilment
ecomplete
ebalance
esoulmates
Tip - I wanted a very high ranked domain name - as example - say it was food.com I went and bought domain name foodco.com and titled the company food company - this work with just about any web site name/domain.
So if you have a name you like and it is used try adding the co to the end of it.
The co extension did not hurt my site and it recently sold for 10,000+ dollars ( not by me lol but thats a different story )

Guys,
Thanks for the idea. Actually this is a great idea and I had it 3 months ago . I really wanted a .com domain. I contacted the guy who owns lovability.com and offered to buy the domain from him. Unfortunately he bought it from someone himself and wanted to get tens of thousands of $ for it, which I can't really afford even for such a great name. However, maybe .net domain is not such a bad thing ???

Hey,
I don't really like the sound to it and the meaning of it is somewhat unclear (looking at the domain name you can't really say that this is a personals site for disabled)

Personally I think hyphens is recipe for disaster, just because I'm not really aware of any even moderately successful website that has a hyphen in it . But I really appreciate your idea generating capabilities .

Ymka101 - I just like word puzzles and this is an interesting one.
I like keke21´s rehabilidate but loveramp sounds a bit raunchy.
Good luck with your quest ...
Hm, quest - that´s a noble kind of word. The quest for love, the quest for perfection etc. lovequest, lifequest, questability etc.
