    Hi All,

I am setting up a new site of very basic static html pages and would like to add a search feature to enable people to search for product info. I want to add a search feature that produces a spiderable page of search results. The reason for this is I need to have a "Top 10 Product Types" page. When someone clicks on a product type in the top 10 they are actually clicking the search string for that product type and then the current results are generated for them. It is important that this link is spiderable by the search engines and the results page is indexed. Is this possible? Where can I get a free script to perform this?

    Thanks

Maybe Google can help? Link: http://www.google.com/intl/en/help/features.html#sitesearch

Thanks Raphael but Google search only searches pages of a site that are already in its index. This is a problem as our site is being built and when it is finished, many new products will be added all the time so our site search would not be up to date. Also, I want Google and other search engines to index the search results pages I link to of the top 10 products.

They also released a "Google-Mini", which sells at 3000 bucks. You can make it index your site in realtime smile What I'm saying is what you want is pretty big... and will take a lot of resources (also money-wise), so maybe you might have to stick with a "halway-decent" solution.

We are not at the stage where we can afford that. I am just looking for a script that generates a search results page that I can link to which is spiderable.

    Thanks

that's what I mean. Either you have great skills, great money or you have to stick with a somewhat "halway-what-I-wanted" solution. Or maybe someone else knows more, but to my knowledge google is pretty much the best option.
