I am uploading a new website and I dont want to lose any of the placement I had before on the search engines.
What are my options
Here is what I am considering.
Have it load that site then redirect after 5 to 10 seconds to the new site, but I am unsure what the spiders read if I do this.
Or just using a new domain name, which I dont want to do.
LEt me know if I have any other options, thanks

Meta refresh or any server side script to wait for the few seconds to take you to the new site will appear deprecated to search engines. You will have to worry about duplicate content penalty as well.

Induce a 301 (permanent redirection) in the old site to point to the new site. There have been many queries in this forum about similar cases.
