Hi all,

I wasn't sure which forum to post on but as I'm most interested in getting results for Google, I have opted for this one...

I am trying to source a web analysis report tool which can be run ad hoc, logs visits (not hits), referrers (especially search engines) and records spiders and robots.

The report needs to be access remote log files and run on a local pc - obviously cost is a factor but we're looking for best value really.

Any ideas would be much appreciated...

Thanks!

If you are comfortable with Unix style of complexity you can try Analog - it is free.
http://www.analog.cx/

Let me warn you .. You need to configure analog before it would do anything for you. Ofcourse they have sample config files and the kind of configuration you can do is extensive.

I have used WebTrends (http://www.netiq.com/webtrends/default.asp) in the past and found the reports quite good. Have not used the product of late though!

I have been using 123LogAnalyzer for awhile and found it to be suprisingly decent considering how easy it is to operate. However, there seems to be little custimization other than filters you can do with it.

The one I tend to like is Advanced Log Analyzer (http://www.vknoware.com/ala/) which attracted be because it has extremely flexible report configuring. I must admit though, I have not been to thrilled with their tech support. I purchased the product finally, and when I e-mailed them with some fairly major issues I was having with the program they essentially just blew me off. I would definantly reccommend trying out the demo, though.

I prefer 10-Strike Log-Analyzer(http://www.lightsparkle.com/product_page.php?product_id=710). I is very easy to use and has a wide variety of filters which help to get only the statistic in which you are interested.
