Hi Web Stat Gugus:

I need a web tool to distinguish between Google Adword PPC clicks and Google standard "organic" clicks. (And for Overture's Yahoo/MSN PPC as well)

I have added the requisite tags to all my PPC accounts.

I dont see any features list for these web stat tools mentioned in this forum that mentions distinguishing between pay per click ad campaigns versus organic searches.

I hear Google Analytics is adept at this and I've signed up for it, but I have no clue as to when it will be available.

Any help in this matter would be appreciated.

Thanks!
CJ

Most site-based stats packages will simply lump them into one pile based on the referring URL - so anything Google goes into that pile.

The excpetion would be soemthing like WebTrends - if you update the G-Adwords ad to include the Webtrends specific tracking tag attached to the target URL, then set up the parameters in WebTrends, it'll break out the tagged traffic on it's own. Well, it'll still show it in the basic incoming search traffic data, but you can look elsewhere in the stats package to see specific reuslts for the tracking tags you set up.

This is, in my experience, fairly highend stuff - but my experience has only been with higher end stats packages like Webtrends.

Why not just use the Adwords account interface to account for it's own stats, and use your site-focused stats package to get a picture of what's happening traffic-wise on the site.

Subtracking the Adword numbers form your site's log-reported data should put you in the ballpark.

...and you won't get closer than "ballpark" with this stuff...the numbers simply never add up... sad

Most of the Web analytics programs should be able to do this provided you configure them properly and use tracking codes on your PPC ads.

IndexTools can do this and so can Urchin, now called Google Analytics. I have one advertiser who was on the waiting list who now has the analytics and many others who are still waiting.

provided you are using tracking paramters for all of your ppc (?source=insertppcprovider) most analytics packages should be able to segment these out. at my old job we used clicktracks for our clients. but again, most any analytics software should be able to segment.
