Google Base is a horrible piece of kit from what I've seen so far.

It's a glorified CraigsList that benefits the spammer. The more regularly you post the higher the ranking.

That needs to be smoothed out before Froogle / Base becomes viable.

From What I understand, Froogle remains same as before - I think the only change was moving administrative area to Google Base. When I tried to get on Base yesterday, I was getting 403 - I will have to take a look at it today.

Google Base was/is/will(unless something really happens there) not one of Google's star-children - I hardly doubt Google would integrate Froogle into Base mix (or other way around).
