Per OAC's request here.Rex Swain's nifty HTTP Viewer - http://www.rexswain.com/httpview.html Lets you make HTTP requests and see exactly what is coming back, including all the header information and a dump of the page contents. Great for looking at those pages that auto-forward you, debugging your server response for the spiders, and for spotting stealth page spammers! I just learned about this neat topic , I have some more nifty tools, will post them here when I get a chance!

Sorry about the mess with this thread, reopening original thread per OAC's request and deleting the other... here is the catch up on new additions. ------------------------------ kevchadders I always like this one... http://www.jessett.com it was one of the first websites i checked out for web design tips... plus it has a good 'site for sore eyes' section (top of page), which can give you some fresh ideas for web design styles. Also has an SEO section ------- excell nice one, I will look at that in more depth later. I believe that SEOs should have a good grasp on design intentions and html coding. www.htmlgoodies.com has good basic tutorials (That's where I started ) --------- Webmaster-Toolkit.com Some more directories http://www.qango.com http://www.uknation.co.uk -------- hbird64 Another free directory http://www.joeant.com/ -------- Janet Berg I forgot about htmlgoodies.com. They are really terrific, I went there way-back-when too. I highly recommend them to any new site owner, or anyone wanting to learn to hand code. Everything is explained very well. ------ kevchadders Though this thread is more SEO based... i know there are lots of SEO's in here who also do some web design... the link below is an excellent FREE icon editor/creator tool... its about 3.2M... you can do sizes of 16*16, 32*32, 48*48 and 64*64 pixels... http://www.axiomx.com/PixelToolbox/ check out the screen shot on the page, to get an idea of what your gettin... well worth the download... --------- rachelreveley Hey Kevchadders I like that jessetts.com one its bnrilliant for css info -------- OAC Excell, the thread is still there - all you need to do is reopen it

www.bruceclay.com is also a good source for SEO with optimization tools, keyword density analyzer, and more.

Here are some useful links I found and Our way cool Moderator, Janet, asked me to post them here: http://www-hosting.net/denied.html http://www.combatfraud.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3 http://www.combatfraud.org/ The 419 scam is fairly well documented and I'm sure all of you have gotten the email about some African who was a royal dignitary or some such... For more information, please see the article in Wired http://www.wired.com/news/business/0,1367,53115,00.html

Just bumping this for the benefit of new people.
We will be compiling this list into some sort of easy to read format shortly, so if you have something you would like to add please list like this:
Information type (category)
URL
Short description of what can be found on the site
(Please do not nominate your own sites if they are good someone else will )

We are finally working on getting the resources in this thread into order. Some of the listings are duplicated and some are out of date.
I am bumping this for the benefit of new people and for those that wish to contribute to the resource list.
There have been many good resources posted out there throughout the forum lately, if you notice any, please post them in here as well.
And of course as I said above;
Please do not nominate your own sites if they are good someone else will.
Thanks all

Do not know if anyone will find this handy but I sure do.
especially the online graphics compression.
after getting a site critique click on one of your images in the loading time report and you get 6 or so images at various compressions that you can right click and save and ftp back to your site.

Wasn't sure where to put this, but it was suggested by Excell that I include it here. Found another email encoder. You can see it in action. Check my index page, (site in profile) then view source. It doesn't turn the email addy into a hyper link, so the visitor has to know how to copy and paste.
