Hi,

i have a small confusion regarding the usage of title attributes. As i understand google ,msn gives good weight to title & alt attributes, my problem is

if i place akeyword which i have targetted ina page as a title attribute to the link of that page in all the remaining pages would it dilute my key word.

to be more clear i had placed a keyword say aaaa in the title attribute for the link to my HOME page. if i place every where the same title attribute for HOME page link would that key word gets diluted.

please any body help.wishing a quick clarification.
Thanks & Regards,
smaran

smaran - welcome to the forums. smile

First off - each page should have a unique title designed to explain exactly what the content of the page is about - thus you will use your keyword in the title - in your example, aaaa.

Next up - internal cross linking - don't worry about placing a link from every one of your internal pages back to the main page (thus using aaaa as the anchor text for all those links.

Going nuts with internal cross linking is not a good idea, as the engines will see it as kind of spammy and penalize you.

Instead, concentrate on linking pages to each other when it makes sense to do so - here's an exaple:

Your site is about bird watching.

You have a page about what makes a good set of binoculars for bird watching.

You have a page about the various bird species.

You have a page about what to pack for a bird watching trip.

You would want to link the page about binoculars to the page about packing for a trip, but not necessarily link it to the page on bird species. While the equipment is useful in the activity of bird watching, the actual content explaining the components of binoculars and what makes a good set isn't really related to species of birds.

Link related content topics to each, but don't bother linking JUST TO LINK.

The title tag on a page should reflect the content on that page.

The title attribute of any links should reflect where that link will take you, and provide additional information to the person about to click that link. At present, search engines dont seem to take the title attribute text into account for ranking.

The alt attribute should be used with images to show text about that image should it fail to load, or for when image loading is turned off. When that image is part of a link, search engines do also consider the alt attribute text in their ranking.

The alt attribute text for image links, and the anchor text for text links, should always be relevant to the target page of the link, and will give a boost to the page that they link to.
