Does anyone know whether Amazon usually charges your credit card during the check out process? I've been trying to buy some books and am having difficulty getting their system to debit the card even though I've used that card there before and use Roboform to fill forms all the time so the information should be the same.

Using my PayPal debit card and it works fine for everything else. Just paid for a couple items at eBay tonight.

I'm guessing you mean "real time" credit card charging. Personally, don't know for sure, but I'd guess they do being that they are one of the largest online retailers.

I always thought they did before and this time it appears that somehow their system had my last name spelled wrong so probably the card didn't get approved. Since then I've edited the information and done whatever I can online to get them to retry with no success.

I don't see any way to contact them directly so I guess if I really want to order those books I'll have to find a way to delete that order and place it again and hope for the best.

I did get one canned email that indicates that they don't bill you until they pack your order with no indication when that actually happens. I've never seen this issue when ordering from them in the past.

There has got to be at least a way to contact them via email or mailform to get help. Did you submit a support request via their contact form?

Your post prompted me to look again for a way to contact them and I did find one in the help section. I can email them or send them a number and ask them to call me - but no number to call them.

I knew there should be a contact form somewhere but just didn't manage to find it before.
