I'm new to the forum, but I have some SEO experience.

Okay, how does a forum work that won't allow URLs? I understand not permitting them to be hyperlinked, but how am I supposed to get any feedback if nobody can get to my business?

Welcome to the forums, kimesp.
We allow you to put your domain in your profile. We also have a Site Review area where you can request a site review from other members of the forums. You might try posting there and ask for a site review.

Here's something that tends to be a problem with not allowing URLs to be posted. A person can put a url in their profile, but it only has room for one url. If a person wants to point people to a number of urls, it can't be done. Many people here maintain numerous sites. It poses a major inconvenience to get help with multiple sites or more than one page.

I agree with the problems for people who maintain more than one domain. What I just don't understand is what's the harm in posting a URL if it's not a LINK?
There's no black hat SEO going on there becuase just the words don't really do you any good SEO-wise but it allows other members to quickly look at what people are talking about.
How do you refrence other resources, examples, etc if you're not allowed to just LIST other websites?

We generally allow links if they're useful; we just don't allow members to promote their own sites in posts. Moderators here are instructed to look at each post and make a determination as to whether the link should remain or not in the post.
How do you refrence other resources, examples, etc if you're not allowed to just LIST other websites?
We allow you to cite other sources and link to them as long as it's not for self-promotional purposes.
In many cases, you can get an answer to your question without having to list a particular site or URL. In those cases where a URL isn't required, then it's typically removed. If we're unable to answer the question without a URL then generally the moderators will leave in.
Whether a link remains a link here is up to the moderators and it all really has to do with the intent of the poster.

It's not black has SEO--it's just pure spam in most cases. We don't allow link drops and spam here. Again, it all has to do with the intent of the poster.
multiple domains
In regards to multiple domains: we do allow them, moderators and staff as well as premium members can put a link in their profile and a link that shows up under their username with the link text, "website" on each of their posts.

But this isn't allowed when a person has several problems (for example):
My name is [so and so] and I have a few problems on a couple sites and various pages. The urls are:
ht tp://www.mysite.com/signin.htm
ht tp://www.mysite.com/infopage.htm
ht tp://www.myothersite.com/subdir/somefeature.htm
ht tp://www.myothersite.com/subdir2/another.page.htm
The problems I'm having on those urls are ... blah, blah, .... This is not allowed either. That IMO is over-kill, not allowing the posting of “unlinked” urls when help is needed. There is obviously a need to post multiple urls when honest to goodness help is needed. The rules for this make it a major inconvenience to get help.

BTW, I do agree with not allowing the general posting of URLs (like what “kimesp” did) for promotional reasons. It's pretty obvious when someone is simply posting URLs for promotional purposes (or seemingly so). That would indeed create a major spam problem.

There are sites that give detailed one-to-one lists of everything that is wrong with a site; however we rarely do that here.
The intent is to teach the methods, and let you apply them to your own site. If you want someone to do that work for you, then various people here are professional SEOs and will quote you for the job.

I'm looking at this from a coding perspective. Sometimes people can explain things better if they can post several urls and then others can see how scripts are interacting with each other on those pages. Sometimes it's simply more effective to post urls to show the problem.

If you are in such situation, you can post links.
Example:
www.site.com/thispage.html or thispage.html (domain in my {poster's} profile).
People who can help in such situation, know how to visit those pages.
You don't need to post live links to tell your page where the problem exist, do you?

No, not talking about posting live links. There's no need for that. Just allow people to post URLs without the hyperlinking ability. That should be OK, right?
This should be OK:
www.somesite1234.com
This would not be allowed:
