Read the whole thing here on Danny's blog.
Kind of a sad day, but it sounds like he's being positive. Wonder what happens next...?
Yet another series of search thngs to attend?

End of an era? I don't think so.
I think the loyalty that Danny commands will give him enormous potential to basically do whatever he pleases.

"This is the End of an Era!"
Thanks are due to Danny Sullivan for his personal input into this industry from many many people.

I agree - not so much an end of an era as a new beginning.

Wherever Danny goes....so goes the crowd. We'll just have to see what he chooses to do next.

"Danny Sullivan" is his own brand name forever and ever. If you ask me, Danny was SEW. I suspect SEW will have a hard time retaining viewership once Danny does his own thing if Danny decides to do his own SEO and webmastering tips web site.

Hmm, I recently found out that he lives only about 30km away from here.
No-one round here even knows who he is. Famous, but only on the Internet.

This could just be me, but it seemed like lately the volume of posting was down a bit already...
No matter - I'll be happy to check in where-ever Danny pops up next.

Simple questions often go unanswered for days or weeks over at SEW.
There doesn't seem to be a core of dedicated posters at the present time.

I know the mods are heavy into the industry, but I suspect what you say is true.

Danny hasn't really left yet. Incisive still wants him, it appears.
Weller says he hasn't given up hope of doing some kind of deal that would keep Danny Sullivan involved with SEW and the conferences. And if he wanted to do something related, Weller said: "I'd put my money behind him; I'd put my company's money behind him. I'm still trying to find a solution that gives him a long-term incentive."
So, let's not jump to conclusions as to what's really going to happen.

"Famous, but only on the Internet" - I like that, he could be operating from a laptop on his bedside table... LOL

Apparently, Incisive Media is already running 250 shows in 47 countries. Weller doesn't say it, but if the company has the expertise, I can imagine that being a success even without Danny Sullivan's imprimature. The Web is a lot bigger than San Jose, or California, or even the good old US of A.
"This industry is global," says Weller, "which is very exciting for the staff. We love the industry, we love the brand, and we love the community. We have a focus, we have a strategy, and we have a fantastic team, and I'd like Danny to be involved, but we will look outside for talent if we have to. ..."
So, not a boring or unfeeling bean counter: rather a man who talks with some passion. But a man who also sees himself between a rock and a hard place.
I give credit to Weller for an enthusiastic approach...that's good.
It is a wide audience and I would just like to say from my percpective as part of that worldwide thing...I attended and spoke on a panel along side Danny and Kalena at the very first SES in Australia.
I didn't even attend in subsequent years because the agenda's didn't have the Danny touch!
I'm not saying that those that did attend and speak lost out on a great and beneficial time - just saying that without Danny I wasn't interested.
This was due to a number of factors involving the "flavour" of the setup.
