Goto alexa.com and type your domain name. Scroll down. You will see the advertisement with your domain name. Click it and you will see detailed advertise and then click further. Alexa will redirect you to their advertisers website and feed them your domain name.

I don't like this.

Oooh...that's crafty! smile

Curt, after typing your domain in the search box, scroll down to the bottom where you'll find a mini ad directory. Roll your mouse over the links and have a look at your status bar. The links are tied to your domain.

My guess is that they're probably trying to do a google-like contextual ad thingymajig but all of it emanating from their own domain. Talk about traffic theft...sheesh!.

Excellent, so G goes in one direction and says you shouldn't target your competitors domains, and Alexa does this - man, I can smell the lawsuits gearing up now. wink

I could be wrong here but after following through these ad links with somedomain.com tied to them, all it seems to do is have the domain cached somewhere and show up in the search box for future traffic analysis. Doesn't seem to have any reference to the ad links at all. Aside from the Get a custom tee with your stats! and the Way Back Machine that cuddle up to your domain, there's zippo.

Could be wrong though....might be a conspiracy waiting to happen wink

They aren't just showing that custom tee ad but also pass the URL and traffic data to that third party.

Click that tee ad then you will see more options then click one option. It will redirect you to another website and alexa will pass our URL and related ranking information to that site.

Aah! You're right. Hadn't mouse overed the links in the tee ads.

Takes some balls to pull a stunt this big. Probably have the finances too to cover any forthcoming lawsuits wink

I'm just not seeing that mini ad directory people are speaking of. All I see at the bottom of the page are sections labeled: Traffic Rankings, Developer's Corner, Company Info, Help. Near the top I see one ad labeled “sponsored links”. That's the only ad I see. huh
