A whole country where every site has no title or snippet in Google?

http://www.google.com/search?num=100&q=site:.um

I am NOT clicking any of those links. I assume bad things will happen.

So, what is that all about?

Those links are for sites hosted in the US Minor outlying states.

Just guessing, but maybe the ISP has restrictions in place that preclude descriptions and such?

Question is, how did you even find it?

I've seen something like this before, it's like supplemental but without the cache and using SEO for Firefox it can't find a last cache date for these sites.

So I plugged my nose up and dived into the sites with Java and JavaScript turned off only to find all the sites time out, both with Java and JavaScript turned on and off :s

Perhaps they ban foreign IPs which could explain the wierd SERPs, Google knows it's there but just can't cache it?

>> Question is, how did you even find it? <<

Ummm. I typed somewebsite.co.uk into the browser, and when the site I wanted didn't come up, I attempted to alter it to somewebsite.com but fumbled it as somewebsite.co.um and got some wierd "Domain does not exist. Registration for this TLD has been disabled by the Registrar" error message.

I then got curious as to how many .um sites actually existed, and made that Google search.

I'd say that was scary, but man, that could happen to anyone...
