Within this forum's messaging system, there is a trash area. I have old messages put into the trash area, but it never gets deleted. How does a member go about deleting the old messages that are no longer needed?

They can't be deleted - because the message may still be live with the other person in the conversation.

What if that other person also has those messages in the trash? Will they get deleted then?

I don't know if it does or not, but that is something that should happen I think.

I'll find out and suggest it if not (or you can PM jcokos with a link to this thread).

It's bullsh*t for five years. It's defense department, anal-retentive-stregth horsesh*t. It was just a bad idea for them to implement at the time and they did it only because the stupid mail program must be utterly and completely segregated from normal operations.

There is no way to delete those messages. Learn to live with it.

Or, send email to John with signature of at least 1,000 members wink

Just a quick edit to langardmicro's post to clean it up a smidge - no intent to change it's feel or the message is meant.

Ditto on SportsGuy's sentiments. We don't need to get this forum like others out there with trashy words. It degrades the atmosphere. The “BS” and “HS” words could go away.
