I would like to use some software in order to do this. Can somebody recommend any free directory building tools? (Copy Shortcut)

A few hundred entries can easily - and safely - be maintained in plain vanilla HTML, but once you get above that, you need automation. ODP is dripping with automation; the editors couldn't function without it! If you google [directory script php], you'll find some. I don't think any one script (of the free ones) stands out - it's a matter of finding one that you feel comfortable with, that has what you need, and is flexible enough to fit in with your other stuff. For what it's worth, if you raise your target to about $25, you'll find a wider selection, and some are much more user friendly. (Copy Shortcut)

I did some research ( thinking I could help you out some ) and the reviews from users did not support what the owner/programmers claimed the scripts could do - be careful some of the 'side effects' were nasty !
