Anybody know why a person would want to install this software from MS? It's part of the custom updates that are available for windows updates via MSIE browser. I would like to know other people's thoughts.

its my understanding that is the MS answer of adobe flash and as all other MS products, its poised to take over the internet...no...the universe!. Just as adobe needs to be installed on your browser to render flash on websites, silverlight must be installed on your brower, um, er, o yeah, this is a MS product, I correct myself, silverlight must take over your browser so that websites that use it will render.

so, guess how those sites using silverlight will work in browsers other than IE

So it's a Flash clone program that generates flash GUI's/animations... hmmm.

Isn't there another flash program out there that creates flash program GUI and animations too? I remember it being mentioned a few years ago, but forgot what it was called.

Swish... That's It!

Hampstead with the memory of an elephant. Good job wink

I remember at one it was available at no cost. Now it's $150. That's still way cheaper than Adobe's Flash (formerly Macromedia Flash) at $700 a pop.

I can think of a reason why folks might want Silverlight, but alas, I cannot share... sad

If they do take it, they can feel good about supporting me in some small way, though.

Isn't that enough? wink
