As OAC (one of the moderators here) is over in London, from Australia for a few days, we're having an SEF Mini-meet.
It will be a simple pub lunch and a couple of beers. Somewhere in the Islington area might be good, but we're up for any other suggestions.
Perhaps Quadrille, sem4u, and anyone else in the area might like to attend?
It's 3 hours each way on the coach for me, and I'll probably go up for two days as there are other things I can do on the other day.
I am good for 2008 March 14th (Friday) and 2008 March 15th (Saturday), and I prefer the Friday.
Who else is available?
Costs... we're looking at 20 quid each for food and beer, so not an expensive time at all. Just a chance for a chat and meetup.

I would love to come, g1smd, but I have to go and help set up a stand at the NEC in Birmingham on Thursday 13th March, stay overnight, then stay on the stand all day on Friday 14th March.
I thought my new role would be all to do with search :s

I was really hoping sem4u would also be around. Shame you're stuck elsewhere. What's the earliest you could get back to London?
Who else is around then?
For clarification, this is London, England, UK and not London, Ontario, as I noticed a few Canadians looking at this thread today!

Ian, the only day I definitely can't do is the 15th. Otherwise, I am available from the 12th to the 17th.

That's great. I think we're looking at something like 5 to 9 pm or something, or are people looking at a start earlier in the day, maybe all afternoon instead?

Darn. I am about that day, but it would be difficult to go up and back in one day.

G1, I reckon you're going to have to have four or five micro-meets ... looks like this town ain't big enough for more than two at a time!

Is it still the 14th? This would suit me best.

G1 - you need to make an executive decision ... and quick!
Give us a time and place and see who can make it.
Please

The 14th it is, and central London seems best for most.

Plan is meet outside Angel tube station just before 5 pm and then wander up the road and find a nice eatery that we can all agree on.
Latecomers can ring +44 (0)7712 674329 to find out where it is.

The plan worked well, and everyone met up just a couple of minutes before five, just as it started to drizzle.
A short trek up Upper Street revealed that the bigger eateries mainly opened at 6pm. Cuba Libre was open, looked like it had a good menu, had plenty of empty tables, and so in we went.
We had a great meal, a couple of beers, and a chat for well over three hours. During that time the restaurant filled up and was very busy. It was great to meet up with OAC and Quadrille, and exchange news and ideas. We had a great meal and dessert, for not much over 20 pounds.
I've not done Cuban before, it was very nice. Must do it again sometime.

Pity I couldn't make it. It would have been good to put faces to names.

Thanks to G1 for organising it - and if I know him at all, he won't rest until everybody has met everybody
