Full article about it is here -

Hmmm... I like FF because it's not tied to any specific organization with their own agendas. I don't use MSIE due to that specific reason except for testing web pages.

It has a small memory footprint - probably due to its origin from WebKit.
The main thing which would interest the designers and techies alike is the new JavaScript rendering engine V8. The reference to the automobile V8 engine appears a little like a hype. I tested many pages with plane loads of AJAX and DHTML pages and found no great improvement. I could be wrong though - if the engine is optimized for certain kind of JS applications.
Chrome is multi threaded. When you open Chrome to browse one site, it spawns many processes to download components of the page - which might appear to make the browsing experience faster. But it also spawned a couple of connections to Google server briefly. I have done a typical installation and I have not activated the Enhance Google features.

I haven't noticed a big difference in speed, I think Google maps loads slightly faster but I'm unsure. I like the tabbing system but there's NO MIDDLE CLICK FUNCTION!
The biggest plus I see from it, are your typical mum & pop people who use the address bar to search, as it now does a Google search for them. That's certainly one way to get defence-able traffic for the big G

I've had a play with it and I can't find any fault with it apart from I need my FF extensions.
I'm sure it won't be long before extensions are available.
One feature I really like is the Incognito Window where I am able to visit websites as if visiting for the first time. No cookie data is used and there is no trace left in my web history.

do you think Google could of fit a few more words in that part!? lol, utter crazyness, surely creating something open source means that Google can do something like that
Or does this mean next time someone is flamed, they can blame Google as it's 'their' content?

I was kinda hoping that FF would eventually kill off MSIE. Now it seems that FF will be competing against 2 browsers. We will likely now need to begin testing our sites in 3 browsers instead of just 2. Anything to make our work more work . Here's to hoping that everything just goes to FF.

I have always tested in Mozilla (either Seamonkey or Firefox or both), Opera, Apple Safari and IE (often two versions - originally 5 and 6, and lately 6 and 7). That's at least four different browsers (note that Seamonkey and Firefox use the same rendering engine).
Google Chrome uses the same rendering engine as Apple Safari, so is likely to work exactly the same as Apple Safari. I have six browsers installed, and they all get used for something from time to time.

Another odd thing about Safari. It uses some extensions from FF - eg; Web development and user Agent Switcher. IE 8 seems a lot more stable than the previous versions.
Like g1smd, I have several browsers installed which get used from time to time.

Well, I don't bother with browsers that have a tiny share of users. IMO, it's enough to get pages to work in both FF and MSIE. It's a challenge at times to get JavaScript, AJAX and CSS to work identically in both browsers. A 3rd browser (if it gets popular enough) just complicates it more.
