Hi All:
Does anyone have any ideas on how to suppress bad search engine results about a person that shows up on a Google name search? Lets say someone had a spate of bad press many years ago and is trying to "rehabilitate" themselves, but finds that the old history keeps on showing up on a Google name search.
I know one can't hide from their past, but search engines make sure information shows up in perpetuity. Any thoughts?

You can try to contact the site with the old informatioon and ask them to delete it
you can optimize your site and get new links to your site that will push the bad stuff down in the rankings
you can look up the offending websites host and try reporting it to the host
you can try contacting google

Wow, that's a tough one to deal with especially if the "item of interest" has no reason to be published in the first place except for the purpose of gossip. However in some instances (such as REAL sex offenders) people deserve any publicity they get going to them.
