Many of our memebers are from New York. Our prayers are for their safety and for all the innocent lives lost today.

I am in Oregon and am in shock. I pray for all the families that have lost life. with an estimated count of over 20,000 dead it is a sad day.

I now understand why after pearl harbor everyone enlisted. I have this overwhelming feeling of patriotism that I haven't felt.

I agree when we find out who did it they should pay with the wrath of the US military. If they want to start a jihad against the US I say let them have hellfire and brimstone

SearchKing is making significant efforts to provide as much news access as possible. They ask that if you build any pages about this cowardly attack on America, please submit them to SearchKing and they will add them to the directory as fast as they are able to handle the load.

Again, if you live on the East Coast, please immediately donate blood. Lives can not be saved without blood and trained medical personnel.

Your body will replenish your blood supply.

Maybe your blood donation will save one child from growing up without a Mommy or Daddy.

That seems like a pretty good return on your investment of a few minutes.

As Jimsun said, this is a special situation for all of us. The normal rules have been set aside to allow us all to express our pain and anger here where so many of us have made friends worldwide for the many years this community has existed.

Seeing friends from around the world come here to share this sorrow with the rest of us has touched me.

A special note to new members who have come here for help with your web efforts, please bear with us.

This community has always offered its full suport to any who come with questions and needs and that is not ever going to change.

Just bear with us if the answers are not appearing as quickly as usual. You are still most welcome here, but we are all in shock. The members will help as soon as they get their bearings.

It's utterly horrible. I don't even know what I am doing at work but what else can I do? I offer my condolences to everyone who lost loved ones in this tragedy and at the same time take comfort in reading posts of sympathy from around the world. To put it bluntly, this sucks.

Other generations of Americans have endured events such as this;

Churchill and the Brits went through events like today, night after night for months during WWll;

Now it's our turn at bat, and we will meet the challenge.

Additionally, I think there is going to be a very intense look taken at how commerce is conducted in this country. And exactly why major companies insist on having such large concentrations of employees, records, business functions and resources centered in relatively small geographic areas like Manhattan. What's the purpose of it when the world is becoming so connected.

I would think that in the future, CEOs will insist on having things spread out more geographically in order to insulate their business functions from attacks such as today.

In the meantime, I hope everyone in this country plans on conducting their lives as close to business as usual as is possible, which for me, is flying a B-767 for a major airline. If they intimidate us into being afraid to live our lives, then they win the battle.

We can't let that happen.

The need for blood is desperate. Please reach out to your web communities and beg them to give blood.

I've thrown together a banner for those who are willing to use it to get donations of blood flowing NOW.

http://jimworld.com/banner/blooddrive.gif

Please do what you can to get people moving towards their local blood donation centers.

Thanks Jim, I'll give this banner 100% of my inventory.

One comment, donate blood even if you're NOT in the East. Even here in Canada, call for blood is urged for the next 8 weeks as the need will rise.

I asked the gang at SearchKing to figure out a way to mirror one of the major bloold information sites as they were buried under the load. They have mirrored the primary info site so you can link to it for the banner. Thanks SK.

Jim - the URL you gave for America's Blood Centers is having trouble. I am running the IP and it is working fine so it can
now be accessed at SearchKing I have also databased the site so that it can be searched for. This URL IS working -->

robinponty, how wonderful to be hearing people want to reach out and help from all over the world.

I'm not sure how to go about giving blood outside of the U.S. but I know that a blood shortage is world wide and at dangerously low levels. If people in other countries make their donations within their own communities you can be assured that it will find its way in the life of someone, somewhere that would have died without that help. When you save a life, nationalities don't seem to matter much.

Start by giving the blood where ever you can. It will be put to good use somewhere in the world.

Ditto to everything said.

If you live in another country and want to give blood. I say don't worry about whether is comes here or not. Just donate. It WILL be put to good use to save lives, maybe not here but it will save lives there. Giving blood it is truly the gift of life.

Save a life Donate Blood!

I live in australia and I woke up this morning to the news reports.one of the tv stations has switched over to feeding cnn and I've been watching it all day.I still can't believe this.every time they show some footage it just seems more and more horrifying that someone could do this.I'm lighting a candle today for all of America and especially for the victims and their families.
