Hello.

I was searching through some of the geocities sites when I came accross yours.

It has come to my attention that you may be interested in purchasing these domains, if so, please write back otherwise please disregard this email.

Thank you."

well as much as I wish that site names were monitored for use, they are not. they paid the money. It cracks me up what people will do for a $ but the bottom line is that you should have bought the name (I have seen services that that sell them for like $9.00)

Chances are they will never use it. they were just hoping that you would buy it. Once you get your site name be sure to renew it before it expires!!!

Sure you were...

This guy gives the term "bottom feeder" all that it deserves. Do not, as a matter of principle buy the domains. Let him have them.

I hope all our members will do a little thinking and email you alternative ideas for a domain name.

It's called making lemonade. Lets turn this lemon around.

Members with helpful alternative domain suggestions please e-mail directly and do not post them here.
Soon as you settle on the best one, register it straight away. Good luck.

The solution is to ask your parents for their VISA/MC in order to register a new domain name so that when you think of another domain you can register it IMMEDIATELY that same day.

PS-How could you not expect some scumbag to hijack your domain when you posted your web site idea and logo openly on the web before registering your domain? It is not as shocking to me that your name was hijacked as it is that you allowed this to happen by assuming everybody on the web is an honest and decent net citizen.

iMatchBooks would be in theme with anything to do with Apple Macs (iMac, iBook)... any relationship there?

What is imatchbooks for?

Yup, what a scumbag! I guess it takes all kinds of people. Keep on moving with your idea, its just a little hiccup. It looks like you've still got a nice domain name that's easy to remember that will work out well for you.

I like the little lit match idea for the i. It will really help people to remember the name, the match will be a good memory jogger.

There are so many great people here, I hate reading that a low life read your post and decided to take advange of you. Good for you for rolling with the punches and sticking him with now unwanted domains!

I'm still pretty ****** about the entire situation but I suppose that's just life.....I ended up registering our names with GoDaddy.com...I searched for the forums like someone told me to do but didn't find out much information on them...Many people talked about how some domain registration companies rip you off....I read the Agreement and all of the fine print fairly well and the only hold back I saw was not being able to transfer your domain to another registrar within 30 days of buying the name.....which isn't a big deal seeing as we probably won't switch....Right now we have both of our new domains parked at GoDaddy for free....they only cost us $8.95 a piece....I really like their site because it's professional, clean, and easy to navigate....I still can't believe people hang around here and take domains like that.....should have thought ahead of time....Any other input is greatly welcome and remember you can see our test site at:
http://www.geocities.com/getupkids17/e-matchbooks6.htm

=) I'm still trying to get more input on it...And no iMatchBooks has nothing to do with iMac stuff......Thanks.

I think after the initial idea, it is important before starting on the design of a site, to have a logo in order to decide on colors, format, etc.

Before designing the logo, one must have very clear that the company name, brand name or whatever is going to identify your products/services, can be registered, or else things like this can happen.

It is pretty pathetic when it happens because someone has no morals though.

I understand how upset you are savestheday, I would be deeply offended by such a scumbag as well.

But, name branding is important long term.

When will you be up and running?

I keep looking.

Actually I wasn't to thrilled with e-matchbook anyway

I reallllly like i-matchbook, esp w/ the I being a lit match! If you do it right that will be really unique and catchy - definitly something to keep your site in their minds, and lit matches will trigger/reinforce your domain name.. Big Giant Jump towards branding.. heck they did you a favor!
