In the course of my working day some things I encounter in the SEO daily grind really wind me up. My biggest used to be the "illegal operation" messages from Windows, but these last few weeks I've been doing a lot of research for new clients and my new pet hate?

(Wordtracker now uses fast parallel technology)

This stays on screen, even with adsl for several seconds - why cant it say "I'm going as fast as I can" or "I'll get your results when I'm good and f*cking ready"? No, it has to tell me how fast it is - makes my blood boil as I can be on Wordtracker for hours at a time.

What on-screen messages wind you up?

What is winding me up right at the moment is SEO's that pose as "ethical" sugar coated candy kids and the real message on my screen is that they spam the hell out of everything, have no ethics and are hell bent on destroying their clients businesses ultimately.

Hey excell it's not just the SEOers - I had a big meeting with a major new client with lots of work if we won the contract. After weeks of talking on the phone, supplying case studies, stats, etc to our contact I was summonded to London to meet the big mesters.

I spoke for about 20/25 minutes, telling them about how we do not spam, how we conduct valid research to get the phrases that will produce roi, I explained all our methodologies, <noframes>, site maps, pages of original content, about the realities of metatags these days, etc etc. I explained how we submitted by hand - even to the less well known directories, how we supply monthly reports and analyse any competitors above us at the SEs, measuring keyword densities, headers, etc. And so on...

After all this information (probably enough for them to get into SEO themselves ) I asked if there were any questions? To which the MD replied, "Why dont you use white text on a white background?

True story

Doncha just love 'em?

Actually philh I had the same sort of experience this past week. I have been working with a large corporate company for about 3 months to get them at the top of the search engines.

I meet with them every couple weeks and review (straight out tell them exactly what I am doing to get the rankings) the steps being taken to get them to the top.

Within the last month their rankings went straight to the top ... and we were reviewing why. (title, meta, h1, optimization, link popularity, etc). When we got through reviewing the whole thing, the last remaining question was ...

Where is all the hidden stuff?

Oh my!

What really winds me up is, the fact that on my way home after a tough days work, bozos overtake me from both sides of the road. sheeeez..this happens ALL the time, giving vent to my ample vocabulary.

OK, so here is another one that has me upset. it has just gone 3.15am here and I just finished talking to the police about the young lady that is camping on my couch.
Grrrr. 15 years old, ward of the state, no one can do anything and nobody cares. At least she is safe here and I CARE.

But back to SEs YES and where do clients get this info FROM? Hahahhahahah. I have a new one in that asked me if I was going to express submit them.. LOL.. That will be the day!!!!!!!!!!

the thing that really winds me up is my browser is not allowing java script to work properly, so annoying, I may end up having to use netscape at this rate .
