Most of our SEO clients do much better on Google than they do on MSN and Yahoo, however we have one client who is doing the complete opposite and is getting good ranking positions on Yahoo and MSN but not Google.
I have read recently that there is quite a difference between the results on MSN Yahoo and Google and that the gap is growing but I can't find any specifics on what it is that makes them different or in other words why do some sites perform in Google and others to MSN and Yahoo. I was hoping somebody might know what it is that I should change to get Google to rank well too.

We have very similar findings. I would be interested to know more about what you mean by "however we have one client who is doing the complete opposite" and what you mean by opposite. Opposite of what?
Our list of "opposites":
- Treatment of, correctness, and uniqueness of meta tags
- Content freshness
- Keyword densities
In the above list, the "opposites" are probably better described as those items that get more attention, versus optimizing for Google. I bet there are a number of people on these forums who say you can give these items their due while making Google happy with other priorities like inbound links, and I would have to agree with them.

dogpile recently did a pretty interesting study about how these three engines vary. there is a PDF floating out there but i'm not too sure about how the forum feels about links to pdf. search DOGPILE STUDY SEARCH ENGINES in G and it will show up.
they also have a cool tool with which you can check the variance yourself. here [link]
