Use the number that is required to describe the page! Keep it brief and readable. I never use more than about 25 words in a description; often only 12 to 15.
For the title, 5 to 8 words is often enough, occasionally a few more. Don't overdo it, the title is seen in the SERPs and at the top of the browser window.

bxuser - I forget how to do this ( oops ! ) but there is also a way to find the best sites to ask for a link back to your site.
can someone please explain it again for bxuser ( and me )...?
something to do with at google search type in keyword + nyc ( as example ) but I am not sure of the specifics......sorry.
